Senior Legal Counsel

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel to join a well-established, forward-thinking financial services business with a strong presence in the insurance sector. This role offers a unique chance to work across a broad range of legal matters, partnering with senior stakeholders and contributing to high-impact commercial and corporate projects.

As Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll play a key part in a collaborative and high-performing legal team, supporting the business across commercial, regulatory, and corporate legal matters. From negotiating major contracts to offering strategic legal advice, you’ll have a real opportunity to influence and shape how the business operates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise stakeholders across the business on a range of legal matters, including underwriting, claims, finance, and regulatory issues
• Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, including material outsourcing, SAAS, IT, data processing and IP agreement.
• Provide legal support on corporate strategy, regulatory issues, and company law
• Manage litigation records, CCJs, and regulatory challenges
• Mentor and support junior legal team members
• Ensure policies and procedures are up to date and compliant with relevant legislation

Key Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister (England & Wales or equivalent)
• 5+ years PQE, ideally with a mix of in-house and/or private practice experience
• Proven experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries
• Skilled in commercial contracts, including outsourcing and tech/SaaS agreements
• Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills
• Enjoys mentoring and knowledge sharing
• Detail-driven, collaborative, and commercially minded
