Job Description - Senior Management Accountant

Location: Hertford
Permanent | Full-time
Salary: Up to £55,000

This is a hands-on role within a collaborative finance function, offering a mix of monthly reporting, analysis, and team support, with real exposure to senior stakeholders and group-level finance.

The Role:
As Senior Management Accountant, you’ll play a key part in the month-end close process, supporting multiple business units with accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and continuous improvement of financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Take ownership of monthly management accounts across multiple entities, including P&L, balance sheet reporting, and variance analysis against budget and forecast
Oversee day-to-day ledger activities, including review of purchase and sales transactions
Prepare and submit VAT returns
Support year-end processes and liaise with external auditors to ensure smooth and timely completion
Act as a key point of contact for finance-related queries across the business and with external partners
Assist with the monitoring of stock levels and inventory processes to support accurate reporting
Maintain and review reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
Provide mentoring and day-to-day support to junior members of the finance team

About You:

Previous experience in a management accounting or similar finance role
Confident producing full sets of management accounts with strong attention to detail
Advanced Excel skills and a solid understanding of finance systems
Organised and deadline-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Clear communicator who thrives in a collaborative team setting
Part-qualified, finalist, or fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
