Job Purpose / Overview

The Senior Market Access & Settlements Specialist will play a critical role in establishing Fidra Energy’s electricity market access, settlements, and revenue validation capability as the business transitions into asset operations. The role is responsible for monitoring the accurate settlement, reconciliation and revenue validation of Fidra Energy’s route-to-market arrangements, including wholesale market revenues alongside associated commercial agreements. Working closely with Commercial, Finance, Operations and external counterparties, the role will develop robust processes, controls and reporting frameworks that support Fidra’s growing operational portfolio. Acting as Fidra’s subject matter expert for energy market access activities, settlement processes, counterparty obligations and commercial governance, the role will ensure commercial performance is accurately captured, validated and reported while supporting the development of scalable operating practices for future growth.

Operating Environment

The Senior Market Access & Settlements Specialist will support the growth of Fidra Energy’s operational business as assets move through commissioning and into commercial operation. Working within a rapidly growing BESS platform with 1.9GW currently under construction, a further 1GW with ready-to-build status and European expansion ambitions, the role will be central to establishing the market access, settlement, revenue validation and governance processes required for long-term operational success. The position operates across multiple interfaces, including optimisation partners, NESO, Elexon, as well as externa land internal stakeholders. It provides an opportunity for the right candidate to build key processes from the ground up and influence how Fidra’s operational portfolio is managed and scaled.

Principal Accountabilities

• Own end-to-end settlement and reconciliation activities associated with Fidra Energy’s operational assets and route-to-market agreements

• Build strong working relationships with route-to-market providers, NESO, Elexon and other market participants (as applicable) to facilitate settlement interactions


• Develop and maintain validation process to ensure accurate settlement statements, invoices and supporting market data, investigating discrepancies and driving timely resolution with counterparties


• Review reconciliations across operational, trading, contractual and settlement data, identifying anomalies, risks and opportunities for improvement


• Prepare monthly fast-close submissions, gross margin analysis, lender reporting and management information for internal and external stakeholders


• Support market access, onboarding and operational readiness activities for new assets, services and commercial arrangements


• Monitor counterparty obligations, payment schedules, collateral and credit requirements, working closely with Finance to manage financial exposure and performance


• Maintain KYC records and accurate repositories of NDAs, EFETs, ISDAs and other commercial agreements, supporting internal controls and audit requirements


• Support the specification, testing, implementation and continuous improvement of settlement, reporting and contract management systems, identifying opportunities for automation, stronger controls and improved efficiency

Essential

• Strong understanding of GB electricity markets and associated settlement processes, including experience of Elexon settlement processes and BSC arrangements


• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with excellent attention to detail and confidence working with complex market data


• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with large and complex datasets


• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across Commercial, Finance, Operations and IT


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical and commercial concepts clearly to specialist and non-specialist audiences


• Well organised, disciplined and able to balance long-term initiatives with routine and ad hoc priorities


• A self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-performance environment


• Ability to produce clear reports, presentations and data visualisations that support commercial decision-making

Desirable

• Knowledge of NESO market interfaces, Balancing Mechanism processes and balancing services

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Degree qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant industry experience


• At least three (3) years relevant experience within GB electricity markets, energy trading, settlements or revenue validation, including commercially significant reconciliation activities.


• Experience in energy settlements, revenue assurance, energy trading support or a related market-facing function


• Experience managing reconciliations involving multiple data sources and external counterparties


• Experience developing, implementing or improving operational processes, controls and governance frameworks

Desirable

• Experience within battery storage, renewable generation, energy supply, aggregation, trading or a route-to-market provider


• Knowledge of EFET and ISDA structures would be advantageous


• Experience within BESS, renewable generation, flexibility services or route-to-market arrangements
