Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

A leading engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development and delivery of bespoke process equipment and handling systems. This role offers a broad range of design responsibilities across varied projects involving custom-built machinery and engineered assemblies for regulated industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings for bespoke mechanical equipment and components
• Generate engineering documentation including process diagrams, design specifications, and fabrication drawings
• Assist in the specification of components and assemblies based on functional requirements and industry standards
• Undertake technical evaluations such as risk and safety assessments in line with project needs
• Liaise with suppliers, fabricators, and internal teams to ensure alignment from design through to delivery
• Support project activities including testing documentation, build support, and handover materials
• Communicate effectively with engineering, project, and commercial teams to maintain accurate workflows and timelines

Candidate Profile

• Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Proficient in the use of CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor)
• Experience designing mechanical systems used in controlled or regulated environments
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing methods, and engineering documentation
• A methodical and practical problem-solver with good organisational and communication skills
• Comfortable working through all stages of a project lifecycle
