Role Overview
Provides technical leadership and mechanical engineering expertise for the design, analysis, manufacture, testing, installation, and operation of complex mechanical equipment within industrial, marine, energy, offshore, and renewable sectors. Responsible for delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Design & Engineering
* Lead the design and verification of mechanical systems and equipment.
* Prepare, review, and approve engineering calculations, reports, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
* Perform structural, mechanical, and lifting analyses using industry-standard software and engineering methods.
* Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
* Support equipment testing, verification, and acceptance activities.
* Develop practical, innovative solutions to technical challenges and support continuous improvement.
Project & Technical Support
* Support projects from concept and tendering through design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning.
* Provide technical guidance during fabrication, assembly, and operational activities.
* Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, reliability studies, and problem-solving initiatives.
* Deliver engineering outputs in line with project schedules and budgets.
Collaboration & Leadership
* Work closely with engineering, project, operations, and manufacturing teams.
* Engage with clients, suppliers, contractors, and verification bodies as required.
* Communicate technical information clearly to stakeholders.
* Mentor and support the development of junior engineers.
* Provide technical leadership and promote best engineering practices.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Mechanical, Marine, or related Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Significant experience in mechanical design engineering within industrial, marine, offshore, energy, or manufacturing sectors.
* Experience delivering engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle.
* Strong understanding of engineering analysis, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
Skills & Competencies
* Mechanical and structural design expertise.
* Proficiency in engineering analysis, FEA, CAD, and technical documentation.
* Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and engineering best practices.
* Strong problem-solving, planning, and organisational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
* Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management, mentoring, and leadership capabilities.
