Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Yoh! Are proud to be working with a leading supplier of electric vehicle drive systems, who are currently expanding to meet the growing demand for electric commercial vehicles!
We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, responsible for the design, construction, and production of components for electric vehicles.
Applications are invited from graduates with significant industrial experience in a mechanical design role, preferably including rotating or dynamic machines. A sound understanding of fundamental engineering principles and their practical application is essential, along with proficiency in 3D CAD systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design close tolerance machined components, castings, moulded parts, pressed metal components, shafts, bearings, seals, and component selection.
Build and manage complex 3D models.
Undertake design analysis, including lifetime and strength calculations on rotating parts and structures.
Provide fully documented designs.
Create design layouts and schematics for solutions.
Provide engineering support within manufacturing and to customers when needed.
Skills and Experience:
Degree in a mechanical engineering discipline.
Proficiency in 3D packaging and visualization.
Experience in designing rotating, dynamic, or moving machinery.
Strong understanding of design for manufacture, machining tolerances, and GD&T.
Experience in a structured quality environment and producing DFMEA documentation.
Ability to manage design activities to meet deadlines.
Proactive approach in an engineering environment.
