The Team You’ll Join

The Partner Integration Newbuilds team drives the onboarding of core Car/Van and Home insurance revenue generating  brands on Go.Compare. Made up of two Senior Engineers, two Mid-Level Engineers, and an Integration Manager—working in tight alignment with dedicated QA—the team takes new partner integrations through complex, multi-disciplinary build phases.

What you'll do

As our Senior Software Engineer, you'll lead technical execution and full lifecycle ownership for partner integrations. Reporting to the Integrations Manager, you'll collaborate with external partners, lead developers, and compliance teams to design high-performance REST APIs. You'll oversee code releases, refine development processes, and advocate for Test-Driven Development (TDD) across our SDLC. You'll also leverage modern AI tools like Copilot and Claude to accelerate integration testing and debugging within FCA-regulated environments.

In this role, you'll provide high-level architectural guidance and conduct code reviews to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability. You'll translate complex technical hurdles into clear insights for executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. As a technical mentor, you'll support team growth, guide deployment strategies, and maintain clear communication during critical system alignment. Your technical leadership ensures our integration platform remains robust, elegant, and secure.

• Lead and mentor engineering team members through architectural guidance and thorough code reviews.
• Design, build, and maintain high-performance REST APIs for data formats like XML, JSON, and SOAP.
• Manage end-to-end partner integration lifecycles from initial discovery to live, zero-downtime deployment.
• Partner with legal and compliance teams to ensure all solutions align with FCA security standards.
• Refine internal development processes, champion TDD principles, and optimize the overall SDLC.
• Utilize AI-assisted tools like Copilot and Claude to streamline debugging and integration testing.

What you’ll bring

• Senior-Level Expertise: Extensive experience in software engineering with a proven track record of leading high-impact projects and cross-functional teams.
• Tech Stack Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in C# and SQL Server. Deep experience with RESTful design and handling legacy protocols like SOAP.
• Process Leadership: Demonstrated ability to design and implement development workflows (e.g., CI/CD improvements, branching strategies, or agile ceremonies).
• Release Governance: Practical experience managing production deployments and overseeing the "Definition of Done."
• Mentorship: A passion for growing others, with experience in formal code reviews and career coaching for junior and mid-level developers.
• Testing Rigor: A "test-first" mindset with experience implementing TDD at a team-wide level

The expected range for this role is £50,000 - £60,000

This is a hybrid role, working two days per week from our Cardiff office.
