Senior NetBox Engineer - Hybrid

NetBox Platform, Data & Integration Engineer

📍 Cambridge (2-3 days onsite per week)
💰 £400-£450 per day (Inside IR35)

We're looking for an experienced NetBox Platform, Data & Integration Contractor to help establish NetBox as the single source of truth for enterprise network data. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the enhancement of a critical platform, driving automation, improving data quality, and integrating NetBox across the wider enterprise technology landscape.

The Role

You'll assess the current network data environment and NetBox implementation before designing and delivering improvements that enhance data accuracy, governance, and automation. Working closely with network and enterprise platform teams, you'll ensure NetBox becomes the trusted source for network inventory, topology, IP addressing, and associated metadata.

Key Responsibilities

Review the existing network data landscape, data quality, and data flows.
Assess and enhance the current NetBox implementation.
Develop NetBox to support enterprise network inventory and lifecycle management.
Design and implement automated discovery and data assurance capabilities.
Define and maintain the NetBox data model to meet operational and business needs.
Establish governance and processes to ensure NetBox remains the authoritative source of record.
Build and enhance integrations with network management platforms, including Cisco Catalyst Centre.
Develop integrations with ServiceNow to improve CMDB accuracy and synchronisation.
Create supporting automation, technical documentation, and operational processes.
Deliver knowledge transfer and recommendations for ongoing platform evolution.

Key Skills & Experience

Strong hands-on experience administering and developing NetBox.
Experience designing and implementing network data models and governance.
Knowledge of network discovery, automation, and data assurance.
Experience integrating NetBox with enterprise platforms such as ServiceNow.
Familiarity with Cisco Catalyst Centre or similar network management platforms.
Scripting and automation experience (Python and APIs desirable).
Strong understanding of enterprise networking, IPAM, and CMDB concepts.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and documentation skills.
