Senior New Business Underwriter- P&C

This is a senior-level opportunity within a major insurer’s Birmingham office, focusing on profitable growth across a broad UK mid-market portfolio. You’ll be trusted to make underwriting decisions, build strong broker relationships, and drive business across both new and renewal cases with the support of a highly experienced team behind you.

The Role

This is a market-facing role, ideally suited to an underwriter who enjoys broker engagement and the pace of winning and retaining business. The focus is on UK accounts within the mid-market space, with exposure to casualty, property or as a combined package. You’ll be underwriting a mix of new and existing business, typically within the £100K premium range, though you’ll also handle larger and more complex UK risks. You’ll have a clearly defined framework and genuine autonomy to make underwriting decisions that drive profitable growth.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll ideally have 10+ years of commercial underwriting experience, with a strong focus on either Liability, Property or as a package across the mid-market space. This role will suit someone who is confident operating independently, commercially minded, and comfortable managing broker relationships at a senior level. Experience with larger and more complex UK risks is highly desirable.
