Gas to Grid / Biomethane | Hull Area | Full Time, Permanent
Altera Recruitment Group is partnering with a client in the renewable energy sector to recruit an experienced Senior Operations Technician for a gas to grid / biomethane facility in the Hull area.
The site is currently undergoing a programme of refurbishment and upgrades, with approximately three months of work remaining before completion. This presents an opportunity for an experienced plant operations professional to join during the final stages of the project, gain an in depth understanding of the facility and play an active role in commissioning, process optimisation and the transition to full operation.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the plant's day to day performance, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operations. This is a hands on leadership position suited to someone with direct experience of operating a gas to grid or biomethane facility, a strong technical understanding of the process and the ability to lead a site through operational challenges and into stable production.
Key Responsibilities
* Take overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the biomethane facility, ensuring operational targets and performance standards are achieved.
* Oversee the transition from refurbishment and upgrades through commissioning and into stable, continuous operation, identifying and resolving operational issues as they arise.
* Monitor plant performance, process conditions and equipment operation, making practical adjustments to optimise efficiency, reliability and gas production.
* Develop and lead the site operations team, establishing clear procedures, maintaining high health and safety standards and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
* Manage day to day operational priorities, including maintenance coordination, troubleshooting and out of hours support, ensuring the facility operates effectively within a 24/7 environment.
Candidate Requirements
* Direct gas to grid or biomethane experience, with a proven understanding of the processes, equipment and operational requirements involved in upgrading biogas for injection into the gas network.
* Previous experience in a Plant Manager, Team Leader or senior plant operations position, with responsibility for day to day facility performance.
* Strong technical and practical problem solving skills, with the ability to investigate process issues, interpret plant performance and implement effective operational adjustments.
* Experience leading or supervising operational teams within an industrial, process engineering, energy or renewable energy environment, with a strong commitment to health, safety and operational compliance.
* A flexible, hands on approach and the ability to work within a 24/7 operational structure, including a four on, four off shift pattern and an element of on call responsibility.
Experience supporting plant commissioning, start ups or major upgrades would be advantageous, particularly given the current stage of the facility's development.
