Lancashire County Council is seeking a Senior Oral Health Support Worker to play a key role in improving oral health for children and families, particularly in the early years, where lifelong habits are formed.

This is a fantastic opportunity to combine hands-on delivery with leadership, quality assurance, and programme development, helping ensure children across Lancashire have the best start in life. You will join an existing Senior Oral Health Worker to roll out a universal offer across Lancashire. We are proud of our programme, and you will help build on our great achievements. 

Why This Role Matters

You will support the development, coordination and quality of Lancashire’s supervised toothbrushing programme, working alongside partners across early years settings, Family Hubs and communities.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll help ensure delivery is consistent, safe, evidence-based and impactful, while supporting colleagues and settings to overcome barriers and achieve sustained engagement.

Your work will contribute directly to improving children’s health outcomes and tackling inequalities across Lancashire.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Oral Health Support Worker, you will:

• Lead and support delivery of the supervised toothbrushing programme across early years settings in Lancashire
• Provide high-quality training and coaching to staff, childminders, and families
• Offer guidance, mentoring, supervision and support to Oral Health Support Workers delivering the programme 
• Promote best practice, consistency and quality assurance across all delivery
• Monitor programme delivery, identify challenges, and support continuous improvement
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with early years providers, Family Hubs and community organisations
• Support settings with implementation requirements, including consent, compliance and safe practice
• Deliver engaging, accessible oral health messages to diverse communities
• Contribute to reporting, evaluation and sharing impact, including success stories and learning
• Support the development of innovative approaches to increase engagement, particularly with underserved groups
• Represent the programme at community events and partnership forums
• Work flexibly and independently across Lancashire to meet service needs

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who brings both passion and leadership to the role:

• Experience working with early years settings, families or community health programmes
• Ability to lead, motivate and support others to deliver high-quality work
• Strong communication skills, able to engage, train and influence a range of audiences
• Confidence in building partnerships and maintaining professional relationships
• Understanding of health improvement, behaviour change and early years development
• Ability to monitor quality, solve problems and drive improvement
• Highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently
• A team player who shares learning and contributes to service development
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and reducing inequalities
• A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience); further training will be provided

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Willingness and ability to travel across Lancashire
