Job Description - Senior Payroll Administrator

A leading PAYE Umbrella Co who manage high-volume payrolls for a diverse workforce across the UK. Renowned for their precision, reliability, and compliance, they process weekly payrolls for thousands of employees, ensuring seamless service is delivered on day to day basis. They are seeking an experienced Payroll Lead to join their dynamic team and drive excellence in their payroll function.

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Payroll Lead to oversee and manage high-volume payroll processes within a fast-paced, large-scale organisation. You will lead a dedicated team, ensure compliance with all regulations, and drive continuous improvements in payroll efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for high-volume weekly payrolls, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Lead and mentor a team of payroll professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other statutory requirements.
  • Manage and resolve complex payroll queries, ensuring exceptional service delivery to employees and stakeholders.
  • Implement and maintain robust payroll systems and processes to support scalability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to streamline payroll operations and data integration.
  • Monitor and report on payroll performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Stay updated on payroll legislation, industry trends, and best practices to maintain compliance and competitiveness.
  • Drive process improvements, leveraging technology to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.

About You

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Proven Experience: 2+ years in payroll management, with specific expertise in high-volume weekly payrolls for large organisations.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a payroll team in a high-pressure environment.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, RTI, and auto-enrolment.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail to ensure error-free payroll processing.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to resolve complex payroll issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication to engage with stakeholders and present reports.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Change Management: Experience in driving process improvements and adopting new technologies to enhance payroll operations.
