Job Description - Senior Payroll Advisor

? Senior Payroll and HR Systems Officer

?? Location: Great Wigborough, Essex (Hybrid working available)

?? Full-time | Salary: £32,000 per annum (DOE)

Are you a payroll professional with a passion for people and systems? Do you want your work to make a real difference to nature and communities across Essex?

We’re partnering with one of the county’s most respected conservation charities in their search for a Senior Payroll and HR Systems Officer. This is a pivotal role within the People and Culture team, helping to create an environment where staff can thrive while supporting the charity’s ambitious goal: to protect and connect 30% of land and sea in Essex by 2030.

? What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Lead and manage monthly payroll processes in partnership with our managed service provider, ensuring accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Oversee and optimise our HR Information Systems (HRIS), ensuring data integrity and smooth functionality.
  • Drive the migration project for new HRIS payroll software, improving efficiency and user experience.
  • Produce insightful HR reports using tools like Power BI to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection regulations.
  • Provide expert payroll advice and champion continuous improvement in HR and payroll processes.
? What We’re Looking For:
  • A professional payroll qualification (CIPP Diploma/Degree or equivalent) or significant UK payroll management experience.
  • Strong HRIS knowledge and data analysis skills, with proficiency in Power BI and other IT tools.
  • Deep understanding of UK payroll systems, employment law, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a collaborative approach.
