Job Description - Senior Payroll Advisor

Are you looking for a new payroll role where you can really make your mark? Do you thrive in a fun, energetic environment where people support each other and enjoy coming to work? If you've got 18 months or more of payroll experience and you're keen to grow your skills in a sociable and fast-paced team, this could be the perfect next step for you.

We're working with a well-established business in the professional services space, who are looking for a confident and friendly Senior Payroll Advisor... or as they word it a "Payroll Superstar" to join their lively and close-knit team. It's a genuinely upbeat and bubbly department - they work hard, enjoy each other's company, and are always ready for a laugh. You'll be supported by experienced colleagues who want to see you succeed, and you'll be encouraged to take full ownership of your work while continuing to develop your payroll expertise.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • You'll be looking after your own portfolio of clients, delivering an end-to-end payroll service that includes:
  • Registering clients for PAYE with HMRC
  • Setting up new payrolls tailored to client requirements
  • Processing weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payrolls including bonuses, commissions, pensions, SMP, SSP, and share schemes
  • Uploading pension contributions and managing benefit reporting (P11D)
  • Year-end processing and P60 production
  • Checking balances with HMRC and investigating anomalies
  • Advising on PSA agreements and controlling payments
  • Ensuring payrolls are completed accurately and on time
  • Building strong working relationships with clients and their employees
  • This is a varied, people-focused role where you'll be a key point of contact for your clients and a valued part of the payroll team.
What We're Looking For:
  • At least 18 months of hands-on payroll experience
  • A proactive attitude and a genuine interest in growing within the payroll profession
  • Someone who enjoys being part of a sociable, friendly team
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • Confident communication skills - both with clients and colleagues
  • A good understanding of UK payroll processes and legislation
  • Experience with STAR Payroll Professional or cloud-based payroll systems is helpful, but not essential.
What's in It for You?
  • A brilliant, welcoming team who make work fun
  • A supportive environment where your development is encouraged
  • A varied client base - including exposure to UK and international payrolls
  • The chance to grow and step up as your confidence builds

If you're looking for a fresh opportunity in a fun, engaging environment - with real room to grow - we'd love to hear from you.

At Gleeson Recruitment Group, we embrace inclusivity and welcome applicants of all backgrounds, experiences, and abilities. We are proud to be a disability confident employer.
