Job Description - Senior PR Campaigns Manager

We are looking to hire a Senior PR Campaigns Manager with consumer PR experience to organise and oversee campaigns and activities and ensure Starling Bank continues its quest to become a household name. 

Based in the London office, with some working from home, the Senior PR Campaigns Manager reports to the Head of PR and works closely with the Senior PR Manager. The role is within the wider communications team which is responsible for media relations, social media, public affairs, internal communications and customer relationship management. 

Consumer PR is at the heart of this role but corporate support will be required on an ad-hoc basis. 

  • Support the Head of PR and when required, the Director of Corporate Affairs 
  • A hands-on approach to PR is needed, this role is fast-paced and requires someone who is happy to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • Take Starling beyond the personal finance, banking and fintech pages through integrated campaigns 
  • Provide the support required to get press office activity and campaign ideas strategically planned, launched and executed using the PR agency and in-house team where appropriate
  • Ensure that campaigns are integrated across marketing disciplines where possible 
  • Liaise with stakeholders across the business to promote PR campaign ideas 
  • Review and write PR content developed in-house, including commentary, opinion pieces, feature pieces and supporting blog and website content
  • Strong media relations speaking to a wide range of journalists and generating press coverage as a result 
  • Be the senior point of contact for the consumer PR agency
  • Support the team/agency in the newsjacking function of the press office, ensuring Starling gets cut through on topical media moments by resourcefully using the assets available
  • Collaborate with wider teams, including social, brand, partnerships, product marketing, editorial, creative studio and web development for integrated marcomms 
  • Generate news story ideas and PR campaigns in-house 
  • Support the team with ad-hoc crisis comms, issues tracking and management
  • Extensive experience in PR either in-house or agency
  • Strong experience in leading integrated PR campaigns which work with other marketing disciplines 
  • Solid project management skills
  • An ability to effectively promote PR to key stakeholders
  • Creative with consumer PR experience 
  • Quick thinker, proactive problem solver and ability to lead campaigns and motivate team members to deliver results 
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Organised, forward-thinking individual who likes to plan, but can also think on their feet and move quickly where required
  • A love of media and generating coverage
  • Enjoys meeting and speaking on the phone to journalists
  • A competent speaker and strong communicator
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail
  • An ability to work reactively and proactively and as a team 
  • Confidence in juggling multiple demands
  • Flair for creativity, strategic thinking and innovation
