Job Description - Senior / Principal Landscape Architect

Full-time — Leeds or Manchester, United Kingdom

Do you see the world not just as it is, but as it could be?
Do you believe in the power of landscape to spark joy, restore nature, and reshape communities?
Do you love big ideas, brave thinking and the thrill of creating places that genuinely make a difference?

If you’re nodding along, keep reading — we might be the perfect match.

For more than 60 years, we’ve been crafting extraordinary places across the globe. From vibrant urban districts to resilient landscapes in some of the world’s most challenging climates, our work is driven by one belief: when people and nature thrive together, the world is a better place.

As leaders in nature-led urbanism — and with exciting growth across our UK and international markets — we’re looking for imaginative, driven, and collaborative Landscape Architects at Senior or Principal level to join our Leeds or Manchester studios.

This is your chance to help shape the next chapter of our story and yours.

The Role

Think of this role as a creative adventure with real responsibility. You’ll work on inspiring and diverse projects both at home and overseas — from concept to delivery — surrounded by a team that’s passionate, supportive, and genuinely loves what they do.

We’ll give you space to explore ideas, the tools to excel, and the trust to make your mark. In return, we’re looking for someone who brings energy, imagination and ambition to every stage of the design process.

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 5+ years of professional experience

  • A genuine design spark — originality, curiosity and a strong creative voice

  • A degree and post grad in Landscape Architecture; CMLI or equivalent preferred

  • A portfolio that tells a story: from loose sketches and big ideas right through to the detail that gets things built

  • Experience delivering projects in the UK and internationally (ideally Middle Eastern/arid landscapes)

  • Excellent skills in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp; Revit experience is a welcomed superpower

  • Ability to lead work but also be hands on and deliver designs as well

  • Confident communication — whether verbal, written, visual or all at once

  • The ability to form strong relationships with clients and collaborators

  • A positive, collaborative spirit — someone who lifts the team and brings joy to the craft

What We Offer

  • The chance to work on bold, meaningful projects that stretch across the UK and the world

  • A competitive salary and a generous benefits package

  • Visa Sponsorship and relocation package for the right candidate, as required

  • A clear and supportive pathway for career progression

  • Flexi-hours and hybrid working to help life and work stay in sync

  • HSF Healthcare Assistance cashback scheme

  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • Perkbox membership and wellness perks

  • Paid professional membership and full support for the Pathway to Chartership if needed

  • Inspiring, friendly studios in the heart of Leeds and Manchester — complete with cycle facilities, showers, and in Manchester, a gym and rooftop garden

Your Growth, Our Commitment

We’re passionate about growing talent. If you’re on the Pathway to Chartership, we’ll guide and mentor you every step of the way. If you’re already chartered, we’ll support you in developing your leadership, skills and creative influence across the studio and beyond.

How to Apply

If this sounds like the role you’ve been waiting for, please upload your CV and portfolio — along with your salary expectations and working status/visa requirements— as soon as possible.

Application deadline: 12th December 2025.

References will be required following interview.

Please note: we respond directly only to candidates selected for interview, but we appreciate every application.

Our Commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

We believe diverse teams make better places — literally. Gillespies is an equal opportunities employer, and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. We’re committed to creating an environment where everyone is respected, valued and able to thrive.
