Our client are the largest provider of industrial, medical and special gases in the UK and Ireland. From cutting harmful emissions, to providing life-saving oxygen and keeping food fresh, our gases play an essential role in everyday life.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Chemist, you will contribute to the research and development, quality control, and product development processes within the laboratory environment.
Responsibilities / Duties:
* You will be responsible for the production of gravimetrically prepared calibration gases and reference materials in accordance with ISO 6142 and ISO 17034 accredited processes within the quality system.
* As well as supporting the integrity of production records, you will maintain the cylinder control database, ensuring accurate records of all cylinders owned by the company and its clients.
* You will make sure that gas mixture compositions are safe to manufacture, generating safety filling procedures, and peer reviewing procedures produced by other approved signatories in accordance with SOP002 (PR041).
* When required, you will deputise for the Production Manager, including scheduling work and coordinating departmental priorities.
* You will be responsible for liaising with the Production Manager regarding the ordering and stock control of gas cylinders, pure source gases, and general support gases.
Requirements:
* You should possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required for dealing on a regular one-to-one basis with members of your team and other stakeholders
* A- level minimum in a science discipline
* You will have sound organisational ability with the capacity to work individually or within the team
* You will be IT literate and have the adaptability to use bespoke software systems, Microsoft Word and Excel and database software
* Extensive experience in the handling of gas cylinders, vacuum equipment, laboratory high pressure gas control equipment, high precision balances and high pressure gases
