Your new company A successful and growing manufacturing organisation based in Burnley, are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Purchase Ledger Officer. Operating from a modern facility, the business supplies an established customer base across the UK and overseas. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced organisation that can offer a varied and responsible position within its finance function.
Your new role Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the end-to-end purchase ledger process. You will ensure that supplier invoices are processed efficiently, overseeing invoice matching and approval processes and maintaining accurate supplier records and master data. You will also manage supplier statement reconciliations, investigate and resolve account queries, and prepare and oversee weekly and monthly payment runs. As Senior Purchase Ledger Officer, you will maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal departments, ensuring that queries are handled professionally and promptly. You will ensure compliance with company financial controls and procedures while supporting the wider finance team with month-end and year-end activities. The role will also involve producing purchase ledger reports and analysis for management, identifying opportunities to improve existing processes and supporting future system developments.
What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience working within a purchase ledger or accounts payable function, together with a strong understanding of associated processes and financial controls. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as you will work closely with suppliers, colleagues and other internal departments. You will also be confident using Microsoft Excel. Experience gained within a manufacturing environment would be beneficial, as would an AAT qualification or equivalent and previous experience using Sage 200. You should have a continuous improvement mindset, with a proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
