Senior Quantity Surveyor

Hyreus is currently recruiting an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for an exciting opportunity based in Peckham, London, working on a major infrastructure project with a leading Tier One civil engineering contractor.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the commercial and contractual aspects of a major infrastructure project, working closely with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and senior stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career within a major London infrastructure environment.

Responsibilities

Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of assigned project packages from procurement through to completion.

Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, valuations, applications for payment and cost reports.

*

Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts, including procurement, payment applications, variations and final accounts.

*

Monitor project costs, commitments and expenditure, identifying commercial risks and opportunities.

*

Manage change, compensation events, variations and contractual claims in accordance with project requirements.

*

Work closely with project managers, engineers and operational teams to ensure commercial performance is maintained.

*

Prepare accurate monthly commercial reports and provide clear updates to senior management.

*

Review and negotiate subcontract and supplier terms, ensuring contractual obligations are managed effectively.

*

Support the procurement process, including tender analysis, negotiations and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers.

*

Identify potential commercial issues and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.

*

Ensure accurate commercial records and documentation are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

*

Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

*

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure or major construction projects.

*

Experience working for a Tier One contractor is highly desirable.

*

Strong knowledge of commercial and contractual management, including NEC contracts, variations, valuations, forecasting and final accounts.

*

Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers across complex infrastructure projects.

*

Strong commercial awareness with excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

*

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with project and senior management teams.

*

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

*

Degree or relevant professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.

*

Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and relevant commercial/project management systems
