Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to take a leading commercial role across major UK energy infrastructure projects?

You will be joining an established and growing infrastructure contractor delivering critical projects across the energy and utilities sector. You will have the opportunity to work across electricity transmission and distribution, renewable energy, EV charging infrastructure, battery storage and wider energy transition programmes, while developing your commercial career within a supportive environment.

The opportunity

My client is a well-established infrastructure contractor delivering complex projects and frameworks across the UK. With continued growth across its energy division, the business is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor.

You will work alongside operational and commercial teams to help successfully deliver major infrastructure schemes, taking responsibility for commercial performance from project inception through to completion.

What you will be doing

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of energy infrastructure projects and frameworks.

You will be doing the following

Managing the commercial performance of projects and frameworks from inception through to final account.
Managing pricing activities and preparing pricing schedules during tender stages.
Producing cost forecasts, valuations and financial reports.
Monitoring project performance against agreed budgets and commercial targets
Administering contracts, variations, compensation events and change control processes.
Preparing and negotiating client applications, claims and final accounts.
Managing subcontractor procurement, payments and ongoing commercial performance
Leading commercial discussions with clients, suppliers and other key stakeholders.
Identifying, managing and mitigating commercial risks across multiple projects.
Providing commercial advice and guidance to project delivery teams.
Developing and maintaining effective cost-control, reporting and forecasting processes.
Ensuring contractual obligations and commercial governance requirements are met.
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team
Identifying opportunities to create additional value and improve commercial processes.
What you will need

To succeed as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will ideally have:

A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within energy, utilities, power or major infrastructure.
You will need prior experience in Transmission & Distribution
A strong understanding of contract administration and commercial management principles.
Good working knowledge of construction law and standard forms of contract, which may include NEC, JCT, ICE and bespoke client contracts.
Experience managing multiple projects or framework contracts.
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
The ability to analyse financial information and translate it into meaningful commercial insight.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
Professional membership of RICS or progress towards chartership would also be welcomed but is not essential.
