Senior Site Engineer / Sub Agent – Civil Engineering
Location: Cappenhurst, Chester (CH1)
Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 per annum + benefits
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Are you an experienced Site Engineer ready to take the next step into project leadership? We are working with a respected civil engineering contractor who is delivering a major infrastructure project for a long-term client in the nuclear/energy sector. They are now seeking a capable Senior Site Engineer / Sub Agent to join their team and help drive quality, safety, and programme performance on-site.

The Role You’ll play a key role in the delivery of a complex civils package, working closely with the Project Manager to oversee daily operations, technical coordination, and subcontractor management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily site activities, ensuring safe and efficient delivery in line with project plans
• Prepare and review RAMS and ITPs in coordination with internal teams and subcontractors
• Carry out setting out and site surveys using appropriate instruments and software
• Monitor progress against programme and support with planning adjustments
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors and the internal workforce on-site
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, NEC contract terms, and company procedures
• Maintain site records, inspection reports, and documentation for audits

About You

• Proven experience in a Senior Site Engineer, Sub Agent, or Section Engineer role within civil engineering
• Confident in setting out, site coordination, and managing subcontractors
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and site documentation processes
• Skilled in preparing RAMS, ITPs, and quality control procedures
• Relevant degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• CSCS card and full UK driving licence essential
• Membership of ICE or similar institution is a bonus
