Senior Software Engineer (Polyglot/ Tech Agnostic) – Remote (UK)

Fully remote | UK-based | Small consultancy | Scotland-friendly

We're looking for a senior software engineer who enjoys working across technologies rather than specialising in a single stack.

If you're fiercely loyal to one framework or language, we're probably not the right fit.

If you're the type of person who gets excited by learning new technologies, contributes to open source, builds side projects, or simply enjoys software engineering as a craft, we'd love to talk.

About our client:

Small software consultancy delivering a wide variety of projects for clients across different industries. Recent projects have included a mixture of:

* Ruby on Rails

* TypeScript & JavaScript

* Next.js

* Drupal

* Shopify & Shopify app development

* Laravel & Symfony

* React Native

* SwiftUI

* Python / Wagtail

* A little Rust

You don't need experience in all of these, but having worked commercial projects across some of these stacks would be beneficial. What matters is being comfortable learning new technologies and moving between different platforms when needed.

We're looking for someone who

* Has significant commercial software engineering experience across tech stacks (see above)

* Can design and deliver production systems

* Enjoys solving problems rather than defending favourite technologies

* Is comfortable working across different languages and frameworks

* Communicates well with both technical and non-technical people

* Takes ownership and works well remotely

Bonus points for

* Open source contributions

* Side projects, products, or libraries you've built yourself

* A genuine interest in the wider software industry
