Senior Software Engineer Role
As part of the Platform Engineering Group, your responsibilities will be to collaborate within a growing crossfunctional organisation tasked with the inception and continuance of a series of services underpinning the largest digital transformation in the company's history. You will be tasked with the creation and maintenance of high quality software applications, cooperating with professionals from different disciplines and of varying experience levels, enabling you the opportunities to mentor and learn from colleagues. Your participation in this culture will empower you to meaningfully contribute to the delivery of software solutions to our stakeholders, not only through your participation in the design and implementation process, but also in the refinement of our software development life cycle. The experience you bring will be a valuable resource in the continuous improvement of our engineering practises and how we approach problems as an organisation.

We encourage our Software Engineers to be capable of working across the entire technology stack, using Infrastructure As Code (IAC) to stand up new services, writing robust backend scripts to communicate with data storage, and creating intuitive interfaces to enable interaction with the application. The organisation adopts the approach of using the best tool for the job, so we currently have services written in a variety of languages such as PHP, C#, Python, SQL and Javascript, and we advocate the use of other languages where the use case makes sense.

Key Responsibilities
Collaborate within a team of cross functional professionals to deliver value in an Agile environment
Review problems and design solutions in a high velocity, iterative software development lifecycle
Take charge of personal development and pursue additional certification with guidance from experienced mentors
Mentor colleagues in appropriate software development techniques and assist with their career progression
Enabled to directly influence the technical requirements and priorities of projects
Accountable for the delivery of robust solutions in pragmatic timescales Participate in the innovation of our Engineering Practises by experimenting with new technologies and processes
Assist in the creation and preservation of highly intuitive software projects
Embrace and maintain our inclusive, dependable and compassionate Engineering Culture

What we are looking for
Significant demonstrable participation in creating applications by following good software practises
Examples of previous innovative decisions that impacted the delivery of projects
Ability to appropriately document and describe software solutions to a variety of audiences
Capable of designing modular systems with clear contracts between components
Excellent Problem Solving and Communication skills
Evidence of ability to successfully achieve relevant Certifications and Training
Experience working as part of a team in a role with significant accountability

This is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week. The role presents the opportunity for hybrid working that will include a minimum 2 days per month in our Dundee office.
