The company is an industry leader in their respective field, and this role is a fantastic opportunity for those with a strong background in specifications for the food industry. The Job You Will Do: Coordinate technical information from manufacturing sites and supply chain partners to produce accurate product specifications and product labels. Create and maintain product specifications using a right-first-time approach, ensuring they meet customer expectations, legislative requirements and internal quality standards. Assist with new product development by preparing sample specifications and supporting artwork reviews, labelling activities and product approval processes. Control specification updates through established change management procedures, obtaining the necessary approvals and communicating changes to relevant stakeholders. Handle customer technical enquiries by sourcing product information from internal departments and providing clear, accurate and professional responses. Provide support for certification processes, including Halal, Kosher, Organic and other applicable product accreditations. Track updates to customer specifications and UK/EU food legislation, communicating changes and evaluating their impact on products and manufacturing processes. Identify opportunities to enhance specification systems and procedures, driving improvements in compliance, accuracy and operational efficiency. Maintain accurate specification records and ensure product development databases remain up to date. Collaborate with the wider specification team to create, review and maintain specifications and product labels across the full product range. About you: Degree qualified in Food Science or a related scientific discipline. At least 5 years' experience developing and maintaining food product specifications within the food industry. Demonstrated experience working with major UK retailers and their specification management systems. Sound knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP methodology and quality management systems. Good understanding of UK and/or EU food labelling regulations and legislative requirements. Knowledge of food production processes, raw ingredients, allergen management and finished product specifications. Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across teams. Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with a methodical and detail-focused approach.
