Job Description - Senior Support Worker – Young People
Central Recruitment is working with a prominent national homelessness charity, whose work includes supporting and accommodating young people.
Our client is currently recruiting for a Senior Progression Coach to work in the Orpington area at a service that provides support to 16 young people with high support needs.
* 37.5 hours per week
* Monday - Friday
* Shifts: 10:00 - 18:00
* Temporary cover required until 29th October
* £18.91 per hour (£16.87 per hour, with £2.04 holiday pay)

Key responsibilities:
* Hold line management responsibility for 4 Progression Coaches, and any other staff as deemed appropriate by your line manager, including undertaking supervision, appraisals and all other aspects of staff management
* Ensure the high quality of risk and needs assessments, SMART outcomes-based support plans and case files for clients of your line reports
* Deliver one-to-one and group support opportunities within the accommodation and local community, aimed at increasing resilience among the clients we work with
* Proactively lead on partnerships with local agencies, including statutory teams, to support the wellbeing of clients in accordance with data protection and information-sharing protocols
* Involve clients in decisions made about them and encourage participation in the organisation’s wider community programme of activities
* Support all clients to participate in Education, Training, Employment and Volunteering opportunities
* Ensure the health and safety of the environment for clients, staff, visitors and volunteers through regular risk assessments, health and safety checks and reporting in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy
* Liaise with internal departments, including Finance, HR, Fundraising and Business Development, as necessary to ensure the smooth running of the service
* Ensure the accurate collection and recording of rent, charges and petty cash, and countersign invoices to support good financial management
* Oversee repairs and maintenance reporting to ensure the building is kept in good order and safe for clients to reside in
* Deploy and supervise the work of volunteers who add value to the work that we do
* Support the Service Manager to recruit and induct new staff, acting as a positive role model at all times
What we’re looking for:
* Experience supervising the work of others
* An understanding of and commitment to working in an assets-based way
* Experience working with young people or people who have experienced homelessness, poor mental health, substance use or have a history of living in care
* Experience using risk assessments and support planning
* Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
* Experience operating safeguarding requirements and procedures
* Commitment to promoting an environment that has the highest regard for the health and safety of others
* A high level of understanding of professional boundaries and the ability to maintain boundaries
* Effective collaborative working
Further requirements:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Current valid right to work in the UK
* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
