Senior Surveyor
Location: North London (Hybrid) Salary: Circa £62,000 Contract: Permanent | Full-Time (37.5 hours)
An established organisation within the housing sector is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Surveyor to join its Property team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong surveyor with leadership experience to manage a small team while overseeing complex property repairs and building defects across a diverse residential portfolio.
This is a varied role where you'll provide expert technical advice on complex repairs, structural issues, damp and mould, and specialist works, helping to ensure homes remain safe, compliant and well maintained. You'll work closely with colleagues across the business to deliver high-quality services while balancing customer satisfaction, compliance and value for money.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and supporting a small team of surveyors, providing technical guidance and mentoring. Diagnosing and resolving complex building defects, structural issues, damp and mould cases, and specialist repairs. Applying expert knowledge of building pathology and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) to identify and manage property hazards. Managing a varied caseload while ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Supporting planned works programmes and contributing to continuous service improvement. Reviewing property improvement requests and providing technical recommendations. Working collaboratively with internal teams and contractors to achieve excellent outcomes for residents.
About You
We're looking for someone with:
Experience managing or leading a surveying team. Strong technical knowledge of residential property maintenance and repairs. Proven expertise in diagnosing damp, mould and complex building defects. A solid understanding of HHSRS, building pathology and housing maintenance. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to a range of stakeholders. A proactive, solution-focused approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality services.
