Job Description - Senior System Verification Engineer
Senior System Verification Engineer Cambridge | Hybrid up to £65k + package
We’re looking for a Senior System Verification Engineer to join a client of ours, a fast-growing medical technology business who are growing their quality engineering team in Cambridge.
This is a hands-on role at the sharp end of a complex electromechanical product. You’ll take system and sub-system requirements and turn them into robust verification strategies, covering test protocols, bespoke rigs and automated scripts, then see them through to formal sign-off. You’ll have real influence over how the product is proven, with your results feeding straight back to the design teams and into regulatory submissions. You’ll also lead/mentor a small group of verification engineers, helping shape how they work and develop. It’s a varied role where you’ll be expected to pitch in wherever the team needs you, which also has a clear progression pathway ready for you to leverage.
What You’ll Bring
Solid experience planning, running and reviewing structured test campaigns on complex systems, from requirements through to reported results A systems level view, with expertise in at least one of electronics, mechanical or software engineering Confidence turning system, user and risk-driven requirements into clear, traceable test protocols, and judging how design changes ripple through existing coverage Practical know-how building or specifying test environments, whether software, hardware or a blend of the two Basic scripting ability, ideally Python, to automate testing and make the process leaner Time spent in a regulated engineering environment, with an appreciation of how documentation needs to stand up to external scrutiny A track record of leading small technical groups, including line management responsibilities such as recruitment and appraisals, and/or project management experience Strong electromechanical grounding, backed by a degree in engineering, physics or a similar technical discipline Meticulous attention to detail, sharp problem-solving instincts and the communication skills to explain findings to varied audiencesAny experience within medical devices or other regulatory industries would be highly beneficial, but not essential.
If you want to work on technology that genuinely makes a difference, while building and leading a verification function on a product changing people's lives, this could be the role for you.
