The British Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Teacher to support the delivery of high-quality English language teaching and drive teaching excellence within our teaching centre. This role is ideal for an accomplished English language teaching professional who is passionate about teacher development, academic quality, and creating exceptional learning experiences for students.
As a Senior Teacher, you will provide academic leadership and support to teaching colleagues through coaching, mentoring, lesson observations, and professional development activities. You will contribute to the design and delivery of teacher training programmes, promote best practice in English Language Teaching (ELT), and help ensure teaching is aligned with British Council standards, frameworks, and approaches.
Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will deliver engaging and effective English language lessons that meet the needs of a diverse range of learners. You will work closely with teachers and operational teams to support the successful delivery of courses, respond to academic enquiries, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of products and services.
The role also involves promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and supporting initiatives that ensure all learners can thrive. You will act as a role model for professional practice, contribute to innovation within the teaching centre, and help create a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and learner success.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience in English language teaching, a recognised ELT qualification, and experience supporting or developing teachers. Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with a commitment to maintaining high academic standards and delivering an outstanding customer experience.
