CNC Recruitment is proud to be recruiting for an experienced Senior Vehicle Technician / Workshop Supervisor on behalf of a well-established independent automotive repair centre based in Chard.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced technician who wants to remain hands-on while taking the lead in a busy workshop. This is not a Service Advisor or Workshop Controller role – you'll spend the majority of your day carrying out diagnostics, repairs and supporting the workshop team with your technical expertise.

The Role
As the Senior Vehicle Technician / Workshop Supervisor, you'll combine hands-on vehicle diagnostics and repairs with day-to-day workshop leadership. Working alongside a skilled team of technicians, you'll ensure work is completed efficiently, safely and to the highest standards while helping to develop less experienced members of the team.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Duties
Carry out hands-on vehicle diagnostics, servicing and repairs on a wide range of vehicles.
Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, engine management and multi-system faults.
Use dealer-level and multi-brand diagnostic equipment, including Snap-on, Autel or equivalent systems.
Provide technical support and guidance to other technicians.
Carry out quality control checks on completed work.
Ensure repairs are completed in accordance with manufacturer (OEM) procedures and safety standards.
Maintain clear and accurate job cards, diagnostic reports and technical records.
Review and technically approve repair estimates prepared by the administration team.
Workshop Leadership
Oversee daily workshop workflow and job allocation.
Monitor work in progress and adjust priorities to maintain efficiency.
Conduct daily workshop start-up and end-of-day procedures.
Maintain high standards of workshop organisation, cleanliness and equipment readiness.
Lead, mentor and support technicians and apprentices.
Promote a positive, professional and accountable workshop culture.
Health & Safety
Ensure safe working practices and correct use of PPE.
Maintain compliance with environmental regulations relating to waste disposal, tyres, batteries and refrigerants.
Ensure workshop equipment and safety inspections are completed and maintained.
What We're Looking ForExperience
Minimum of 10 years' hands-on experience as an Automotive Technician.
Previous experience in a Senior Technician, Workshop Supervisor or Lead Technician role.
Strong multi-brand diagnostic experience is essential.
Experience diagnosing complex electrical, engine management and vehicle system faults.
Confident using dealer-level diagnostic equipment such as Snap-on, Autel or similar.
ADAS calibration experience would be advantageous.
MOT Tester qualification is desirable but not essential.
