Senior Underwriter (Specialist Lending)

We are currently working exclusively with a successful financial services business who wish to appoint a Senior Underwriter (specialist lending). Reporting to Head of Underwriting the role of Senior Underwriter (specialist lending) will play a business critical role in assessing short-term mortgage applications to make informed lending decisions. • Review & assess short-term mortgage applications with a focus on specialist lending, bridging (regulated and non-regulated), development and commercial loans
• Analyse all information to assess risk levels
• Apply established underwriting guidelines and procedures to evaluate applications
• Identify the potential risks and challenges with applications and propose risk mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient decision making processes
• Stay updated on market trends and regulatory changes to inform underwriting decisions

The Person:

• c5 years of relevant underwriting experience in specialist mortgage underwriting (e.g. BTL, bridging, commercial and/or development lending etc.)
• Regulatory and compliance knowledge related to banking and underwriting (KYC, AML etc.)
• Strong analytical skills and evaluating risk to make informed decisions
• Ability to solve problems with a strong attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• A clear and concise communicator

Salary:

£55k - £70k plus bonus, pension, 30 days, gym, free parking, hybrid/flexible working, relocation package available
