• Due to the Animal Plant and Health Agency (APHA) Specialist Resourcing Framework contract award, Mistev EHC is looking for prospective candidates to fill in temporary positions that may arise at any time within Lot 1 - Veterinary Personnel.

The role

• Senior Veterinary Inspector (APHA) - 2 posts. 


• Deployment start date: 06/01/2025 (this is indicative, the actually start date to be as soon as possible after this date);


• Deployment end date: 31/03/2025.

Responsibilities

• Investigate notifiable animal diseases in farm livestock by undertaking on-farm and field investigations by:
  
  
  
  • Examining and inspecting farm animals, to support differential diagnosis and notifiable diseases.
  
  
  • Management of TB breakdown cases.
  
  
  • Conducting in-field post-mortem examinations when appropriate.
  
  
  • Conduct inspections at premises handling Animal-By-Products to support the control of risk to animal and public health.
  
  
  • Collecting and submitting appropriate samples for laboratory testing.
  
  
  • Collecting and interpreting relevant data.
  
  
  • Reporting findings and recommendations.
  
  
  
  


• Disease Investigation and Welfare.


• Inspection, Approval and Audit.


• Incident and Disease Outbreak Response.


• Compliance and Enforcement.

Skills/Qualifications Required and Requisites

• Veterinary medicine degree.


• Full membership of The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.


• UK or EEA citizens with the right to work in the UK.
