I am currently recruiting for a leading Lloyd's Syndicate who are seeking a Senior Wordings Counsel to join their team.

This role will be working closely with the UW's/Legal team to advise & draft insurance documents including; policy wordings, evidence of cover, certificates of insurance, etc. The role is catered around Property, Casualty and some Financial Lines so my client is looking for someone with strong experience within these lines in a Legal/Wordings capacity. London Market experience is required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, review, and oversee the production of insurance documentation, including policy wordings, certificates, IPIDs, proposal forms, and marketing materials.
• Draft and approve documentation for all products underwritten by the Syndicate.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to underwriters on all matters related to insurance wordings, ensuring alignment with the Syndicates Wordings Protocols.
• Maintain and manage a centralised wording library for underwriter use.
• Participate in the Product Oversight Group, offering wordings expertise on SME products.
• Develop and maintain clear, concise, and customer-friendly wordings for SME offerings.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with underwriters, brokers, coverholders, and internal teams.
• Monitor and communicate regulatory and market developments relating to policy wordings and exclusionary language.
• Support compliance, delegated authority, and underwriting management in drafting insurance-related agreements, such as binding authority contracts.
• Deliver training sessions and guidance to staff on wordings and documentation best practices.
