Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy in their search for a Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant to join their expanding Manchester team.

Our client is a leading organisation working at the forefront of major UK infrastructure and development projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented environmental professional to step into a key role within a dynamic, supportive consultancy.

As a Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant, you will:

• Lead and coordinate environmental inputs across a range of high-profile infrastructure, regeneration, and development projects.

• Manage the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental Statements (ES), and related planning documentation.

• Oversee project delivery, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

• Provide strategic advice to clients on environmental planning, permitting, and compliance.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across planning, ecology, heritage, transport, and engineering disciplines.

• Support junior staff through mentoring and technical review.

• Contribute to business development, including writing proposals, identifying opportunities, and expanding client relationships.

To be successful in this Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant role, you will ideally have:

• A relevant environmental or related degree, with chartered status (IEMA, CEnv, or similar) preferred.

• A strong track record in managing EIA projects within the UK planning system.

• Excellent technical knowledge of environmental planning and relevant UK legislation.

• Strong communication and report writing skills, with the ability to lead client conversations and contribute to commercial decision-making.

• A collaborative mindset and the ability to manage and support a growing team.
