Serious Injury / PI Solicitor (Intermediate Track & Mid-Value Multi-Track, £25k£250k)

Optimal Solicitors (client-rated 4.9★, 2,100+ reviews) is growing. We’re looking for a skilled litigator to run intermediate track PI claims and mid-value multi-track matters—typically £25,000 to £250,000—across EL/PL/RTA and selected clinical negligence work.

Known for giving a voice to underserved communities and fighting for the justice they deserve, our Serious Injury team is expanding. We need a highly capable litigator to steer intermediate track and mid-value EL, PL, RTA and medical-negligence files from day one.

What the job looks like

• Run and grow your own caseload (EL/PL/RTA and selected Clin Neg), from instruction to settlement/trial.


• Assess liability and quantum: review medical evidence, obtain reports, research and apply current case law.


• Maximise personal billings and contribute to department forecasts while maintaining first-class client care.


• Meet clients (in person and virtually) to explain strategy, manage expectations and build lasting trust.


• Lead conferences with experts (medical specialists, case managers, care experts, accountants and counsel).


• Analyse evidence to resolve disputes on liability, causation and quantum.


• Draft pleadings, witness statements, Part 35 questions, and detailed schedules/counter-schedules.


• Secure interim payments promptly and arrange appropriate rehabilitation.


• Negotiate robustly with insurers/defendant firms, minimising write-offs and disbursement issues.


• Use Proclaim in line with firm policy; coach junior staff on best practice.


• Apply strong commercial awareness to drive profitability and spot value-add opportunities.


• Collaborate with Marketing on case stories and client-friendly insights; support thought leadership on LinkedIn.


• Stay current on CPR updates, costs reforms and emerging medico-legal issues.
