Job Description - Service Engineer

Service Engineer
Based from Thetford
Salary: £36,000 - £42,000 per annum

We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Service Engineer to join a well-established engineering team supporting the maintenance and repair of rotating equipment used across the water industry. This is a varied role that combines both workshop-based and field-based work, ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and getting stuck in.

As a Service Engineer, you will be:
  • Stripping down, inspecting, and rebuilding pumps, gearboxes, compressors, mixers, and other rotating equipment
  • Supporting emergency repairs and reactive maintenance on client sites
  • Working with machinery from various OEMs across different industries
  • Using technical knowledge and initiative to work from set scopes or problem-solve on the spot
  • Completing detailed maintenance reports and documentation
  • Maintaining high safety and quality standards at all times
  • Communicating directly with clients to provide updates, advice, and support
Requirements for this Service Engineer role:
  • A solid understanding of electro-mechanical equipment
  • Ability to work independently and confidently, especially under pressure
  • A proactive approach to fault-finding and repairs
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when needed
