Kilkern are a leading civil construction and plant hire firm that supplies services for the infrastructure and civil engineering sector with separate divisions covering rail, utilities, civils, transportation and tunnelling. Our clients include the UKs top tier contractors and we are engaged on many of the most high profile infrastructure projects throughout the UK.


We are searching for an in-house Mechanical Engineer to assist with our large fleet, which include light vehicles, heavy plant and suction excavator machines.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Service Engineer will be responsible for routine maintenance including, but not limited to;

· Planned maintenance

· Fault diagnostics (via remote monitoring and liaising with operators)

· Fault rectification and record keeping

· Remedial works

· Research and development tasks

· Working at our sites and in-house

· Maintain vehicle, tools and equipment in a safe, clean and functional condition

· Ensure all areas of work are maintained in a safe and tidy condition by practicing good housekeeping.

· Comply with all aspects of the company policies and follow published procedures where applicable.

· Call out rota will be required.

· Working as part of a team nationwide, self-motivation and team working are essential. This role involves a high proportion of working alone as well as supporting and being supported by the company’s existing team of engineers and managers. Flexibility within this role is paramount, with the ability to adopt working hours to accommodate priorities and/or business requirements. This will involve working throughout the UK with nights away from time to time.

· Support and contribute towards continuous improvement

· Contribute and support to ensure compliance to ISO9001 and FORS

Qualifications Skills and Attributes Required:

· At least 3 years’ demonstrable experience working within the service industry in mechanical and electrical disciplines ideally with hydraulic and pneumatic experience.

· Experience in fault-finding and repair of electrical control circuits/PLC’s is desirable.

· A recognised formal apprenticeship in addition to City and Guilds or similar qualification.

· To always work safely and in accordance with the company’s health and safety procedures. Precautions should be taken as necessary when visiting sites, adopting the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
