40 hours per week | Monday-Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm; Friday 8:00am-2:30pm
If you enjoy finding the cause of a machinery fault and putting it right, this role offers more variety than routine servicing. You'll work on specialist excavators that operate on both roads and railway tracks, with opportunities to get involved in repairs, upgrades and new machine builds.
Based mainly in the Thornton Cleveleys workshop, you'll:
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
Service and maintain excavators and other heavy plant
Fit modifications, upgrades and safety systems
Assemble, test and support new machinery builds
Use technical drawings and schematics to investigate faults
Complete work to the safety and quality standards required in the rail industry
You'll need an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent, at least two years' relevant experience, and strong hands-on fault-finding skills. Your background could be in construction plant, heavy equipment, rail plant or HGVs, provided you've worked on complex machinery rather than solely vehicle servicing or MOTs.
Road-rail experience would be an advantage, but strong transferable plant experience is welcome. There may occasionally be work at customer facilities or on site.
