We are currently seeking an experienced Service Engineer to join a busy workshop team in Queenborough, Kent.
The role will be predominantly workshop-based, with occasional travel to customer sites and field locations. You will be responsible for the inspection, repair, overhaul, maintenance and servicing of a range of marine and industrial driveline equipment, including transmissions, torque converters, axles and associated components.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically minded engineer to develop their experience within a specialist engineering environment, working on a diverse range of equipment and applications.
Key Responsibilities of Service Engineer Strip, inspect, diagnose and repair customer equipment within the workshop. Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs at customer premises and other external sites when required. Work on a variety of marine and off-highway driveline systems and components. Identify faults and complete repairs to a high standard. Use appropriate measuring and diagnostic equipment. Complete job sheets, service reports and other relevant documentation accurately. Follow all company health and safety procedures and engineering standards. Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment. Work closely with colleagues, supervisors and customers to ensure work is completed efficiently. Undertake any other reasonable duties associated with the role.
Skills & Experience of Service Engineer
A recognised qualification in mechanical engineering or relevant practical industry experience. Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and a good understanding of engineering principles. Experience in equipment servicing, repair or maintenance. Experience working with driveline systems would be advantageous but is not essential. Competence using mechanical measuring equipment. Basic knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems would be beneficial. Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities. The ability to read and understand technical information and engineering drawings. Good IT skills, including the ability to complete digital job records and reports. A full UK driving licence. A strong focus on health, safety and quality.
This role would suit a Mechanical Engineer, Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Fitter or Workshop Engineer who enjoys hands-on engineering and wants to develop their skills within a specialist environment.
Experience within the marine, automotive, heavy engineering, agricultural, plant, industrial or off-highway sectors would be particularly relevant.
