Service Engineer - Linea Research

The Company:
We are Linea Research Ltd, part of the Focusrite Group based in Letchworth Garden City Hertfordshire. We design and manufacture high performance Audio Electronics for the professional market and our amplifiers and processors are used across the world. Some of the very biggest venues and events are powered by Linea amplifiers, and in the last few years we’ve become the leading manufacturer of professional amplifiers in the UK. We have modern offices and workshop facilities.
We have an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our busy customer service department. In this position, the successful candidate will help to service and test our high technology products to both module and component level.
Working hours: 37.5 hour working week, Monday to Friday 08.30 am to 5pm.
What does the job involve?
- You will be operating as a key element providing technical support to both our customers and our on-site production teams
- You will be diagnosing and repairing our products to both module swap and component level
- You will be communicating with customers, and fellow colleagues both orally and in writing
- Some travel may be required, possibly overseas
- Overseeing the returns database and ensuring that it is kept up to date
This will include:
- Repairing field returns
- Helping production with engineering issues
- Analysing the root cause of failures and liaising with Quality and R&D staff to continuously improve product quality
- Provide training and support to partners who service our products outside the UK
- Communicate with customers to help them resolve issues prior to returning product for service
- Product specific training will be given
What skills are we looking for?
- Experience in component level electronic repair which includes surface mount assemblies
- Ability to use normal workshop tools and test equipment
- Someone who is comfortable working on mains powered equipment and understands how to do so safely
- Ability to read and understand circuit diagrams
- Ideally familiar with working on switch mode power supplies
- Ideally someone familiar with both analog and digital audio signal processing
- Experience with Class D amplifier technology would be an advantage
- IT literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Someone who is hard working, punctual, self-disciplined and with a flexible outlook
- Someone who lives within a commutable distance to Letchworth Hertfordshire
- Full UK driving license desirable and permanent eligibility to work in the UK required
