Sessional Playworker

Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Islington Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Sessional Playworker this role will be based at: N1 1XR

Each playground shift is roughly 11:00-19:00

The right candidate will:

* To deliver a play offer on an adventure playground working with other Playworkers and the Playwork Coordinators ensuring a high quality service

* To support all children and young people in the cre ation of a space in which they can play, recognising the playworker impact on the play space and also the impact of children and young peoples play on the playworker.

* Providing play opportunities for children and young people that provide for: Challenge and risk, social education, personal development, movement and physicality, intellectual challenge, creativity, which enabling children to acquire new skills in supporting their emotional development and play needs.

* Carrying out administrative duties and collecting relevant management information as directed by the Playwork Coordinator in accordance with Islington Council procedures

We require the following:

* Candidates shouldhave a relevant qualification in workingwith children & young people or substantial part time experience of working with children and young people in a multi-racial inner city setting and understand the value of Play in children’s development.

* Able to identify potential child protection issuesand know what to do with this information.

* Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team situation.

* Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS
