The Opportunity
I'm currently looking for an experienced Setting Out Engineer with a strong background in highways to join a major infrastructure project in Buckinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with proven highways experience looking for an immediate contract role with the potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Sub Agent and providing technical support to the site management team Overseeing highways works, including:
Earthworks Drainage Kerbing Surfacing
Coordinating utilities works, including diversions, installations, and protection of existing services, liaising with statutory undertakers and utility providers. Carrying out and checking accurate setting out using GPS and total station equipment. Reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, raising RFIs where required. Maintaining accurate site records, including daily diaries, QA documentation, ITPs, check sheets, as-built records, and material approvals. Ensuring compliance with NEC contract requirements, including early warnings, quality records, and supporting change control. Monitoring programme progress, identifying risks, and helping to keep the project on track. Ensuring works are carried out in line with Health & Safety legislation, CDM regulations, and company procedures. Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, local authorities, and other key stakeholders. Supporting temporary works coordination where required.
Essential Requirements
Proven experience as a Senior/Site Engineer on highways infrastructure projects. Strong highways construction experience, including utilities coordination. Experience working under NEC3 or NEC4 contracts. Previous experience managing or mentoring junior engineers. Competent using GPS and total station equipment for setting out. Strong understanding of QA processes and site documentation. Experience working with local authorities and statutory undertakers. CSCS Card (appropriate level). SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred). Full UK Driving Licence. HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline). First Aid at Work certificate.
