Our client is a well-established and reputable civils and groundworks contractor based in Devon, delivering high-quality projects across the South West.

The Role

They are seeking a skilled and motivated Setting Out Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a key role where you’ll be responsible for accurate setting out, quality assurance, and technical support across a wide variety of civil engineering and groundworks projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately set out for all construction activities including foundations, drainage, roads, steel frames, retaining walls, and external works
• Carry out site surveys, as-builts, and quality checks including line and level surveys
• Read and interpret construction drawings and plans
• Provide technical support to site teams and resolve design-related issues
• Liaise with project managers, site supervisors, engineers, and architects
• Maintain accurate records of work, surveys, and quality checks
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on civils or groundworks projects
• Proficient in the use of GPS, total stations, and AutoCAD
• Solid understanding of foundation types, drainage systems, and reinforced concrete structures
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Full UK driving licence
