EMBS is working in partnership with a specialist high-voltage (HV) cable installation, jointing and civil infrastructure provider, operating across the UK and Europe, that is currently in the market for a Setting Out Engineer to join their team on a contract basis running through to the festive break.

This market leader is a well-established, trusted partner to tier 1 operators, with a rich history spanning 25+ years of long-term client relationships delivering nationally significant HV cable and substation infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Off the back of continued success and immediate site demand, our client is seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to own the accuracy of works on site across civil, foundation and heavy cable installations.

As a Setting Out Engineer, you will translate design drawings into pinpoint reality on live construction sites.

You will:

• Use total stations and GPS survey equipment to mark out precise locations, levels and boundaries for civil works, ducting and foundations


• Carry out quality control, checking dimensions, alignments and levels against engineering drawings and specifications


• Provide technical liaison across project managers, civil teams and subcontractors to resolve design or site discrepancies


• Maintain accurate record keeping, including site logs, as-built records and material quantity estimates

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:

• Availability now, or on very short notice, for a contract running to Christmas


• Proven setting out experience on civil / infrastructure sites (power, utilities or heavy civils ideal)


• Confidence with total stations and GPS survey equipment


• A strong grasp of engineering drawings and specifications


• Working knowledge of UK power network guidelines (National Grid, SSE, UK Power Networks) and CDM / H&S compliance


• UK residency and the right to work in the UK
