The Role
* Lead the site's Safety, Health and Environmental strategy, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, company standards and corporate policies.
* Develop, implement and continuously improve SHE management systems, procedures and performance standards.
* Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on all SHE matters, including operational risk assessments, incident investigations and legislative compliance.
* Lead the development and delivery of site SHE improvement programmes to achieve world-class SHE performance.
* Promote a strong behavioural safety culture by engaging employees at all levels and encouraging ownership of SHE responsibilities.
* Monitor SHE performance through audits, inspections, KPI reporting and trend analysis, ensuring corrective actions are effectively implemented.
* Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures.
* Ensure effective management of environmental compliance, including permits, emissions, waste management and sustainability initiatives.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SHE legislation and ensure the site remains fully compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements.
* Act as the site's subject matter expert for Operational Risk Assessment processes and process safety management.
* Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, external SHE networks and industry groups.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience within a manufacturing or process industry environment.
* Degree or professional qualification in a relevant scientific discipline.
