An established high-hazard manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Safety, Health & Environmental Officer to join its SHE team.
The organisation is undergoing significant growth, involving the introduction of new processes and equipment, while continuing to maintain high standards of Safety, Health and Environmental performance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a SHE professional with 3+ years' relevant experience to develop their career within a complex manufacturing environment, supporting the organisation across a broad range of health and safety activities.
The Role
Reporting directly to the SHE Manager, you will support the development and implementation of SHE strategies, policies and procedures, ensuring they align with UK legislation and organisational standards.
You will provide practical SHE advice across the site, undertake audits and inspections, support incident investigations and help promote a positive and proactive safety culture.
The role will also provide the opportunity to deputise for the SHE Manager when required and mentor and coach other members of the SHE team.
Key Responsibilities
As SHE Officer, you will:
Support the development of strategic Safety, Health & Environmental plans. Develop and implement SHE policies and procedures in line with UK legislation and organisational standards. Conduct audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance. Investigate SHE incidents and near misses, producing detailed reports and recommendations for corrective action. Monitor and analyse SHE performance metrics and prepare reports for management. Coordinate emergency response plans and support emergency preparedness drills. Liaise with regulatory bodies and support the timely submission of required reports and documentation. Promote a positive and proactive culture of safety, health and environmental awareness. Manage relationships effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and relevant external organisations.About You
We are looking for a proactive SHE professional with at least three years' relevant experience, ideally gained within a manufacturing or high-hazard environment.
You will have a sound understanding of health and safety legislation and be confident applying your knowledge in a practical workplace environment.
Qualifications
NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent.Experience
You will ideally have:
A minimum of 3 years' experience in a relevant SHE/Health & Safety role. Experience working within a manufacturing or high-hazard environment. Experience conducting audits and inspections. Experience investigating incidents and near misses. Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements. Experience working with ISO 45001 would be advantageous.Why Apply?
