Sheet Metal Worker

Location: Reading, Berkshire
Pay Rate: £16.00–£18.71 per hour, depending on experience
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 7am-4.45pm – 4-day working week
Overtime: Available
Holidays: 25 days annual leave, plus statutory bank holidays
Contek Recruitment Solutions is representing our client, an established precision engineering and manufacturing business specialising in high-quality sheet metalwork and components for demanding industries.
Due to continued requirements within the business, we are looking for experienced Sheet Metalworkers to join the team at their Reading facility.
These roles would suit candidates with experience in fine limit sheet metalwork, working with precision components and maintaining high standards of workmanship. Experience with brake pressing, CNC punching, CNC routing or laser cutting would be advantageous, alongside strong practical skills in dressing, finishing and knocking over components.
With a four-day working week, competitive hourly rates and overtime available, this is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist manufacturing environment.
The Role – Sheet Metalworker

Carry out fine limit sheet metalwork to the required engineering drawings and specifications.
*
Work with sheet metal components throughout the manufacturing process.
*
Operate machinery such as brake presses, CNC punching machines, routers and laser cutting equipment, depending on experience.
*
Carry out dressing, finishing and knocking over of components to achieve the required quality and finish.
*
Ensure components meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
*
Read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions.
*
Check completed work to ensure it meets the required specifications.
*
Maintain high standards of workmanship, accuracy and attention to detail.
*
Work effectively as part of a team to meet production deadlines.
*
Maintain a safe, tidy and organised working environment.
The Ideal Candidate
*
Previous experience in sheet metalwork or precision engineering.
*
Fine limit sheet metalwork experience is preferred.
*
Familiarity with brake pressing, CNC punching, CNC routing and/or laser cutting.
*
Good practical hand skills, particularly in dressing, finishing and knocking over components.
*
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
*
A strong eye for detail and an understanding of quality requirements.
*
A reliable, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Candidates with strong manual skills and experience finishing precision sheet metal components are particularly encouraged to apply, even if their experience with every machine listed is limited.
