Contract – Permanent Nights

Location - Tyne Yard, Lamesley

Working Hours – 35 hours per week, working on a local night shift roster, 4 on 4 off

Salary - £42,613.42

The Role:

Working in our Tyne Yard depot and reporting into the Team Leader, you will be responsible for providing maintenance of rail vehicles to the laid down procedures.

What You’ll Do:

• Carry out work as allocated by the Team Leader within set timescales and to the recognised standards

• Operate (drive) rail vehicles as required, within depot operating limits, and in accordance with all relevant operating procedures

• Ensure that safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with VMI & local instruction

• Ensure that work sheets are signed off promptly and correctly on completion of work

• Ensure that the appropriate Quality and Environmental procedures and work instructions are adhered to

• Attend technical, quality, safety and general briefings ensuring that the necessary action is taken on items raised

• Undertake Safety Critical Work Regulations assessments under the guidance of the Team Leader, taking remedial action where necessary

• Carry out any duties within level of competence, as requested by the Team Leader

• Maintain good housekeeping and standard of cleanliness throughout depot at all times

• Use of all PPE in accordance with standards and local instruction

• Assist as directed by Team Leader to ensure rolling stock availability / reliability targets are met

• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

• Cover the Team Leader role as and when required

What You Bring:

• Qualifications – a minimum Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Engineering.

• Experience – previous experience, involvement and understanding of rail vehicle maintenance activities

• Knowledge – good understanding of depot operations or health and safety requirements

• Skills – strong communication skills couple with a good standard of education
