We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Supervisor to join a busy and fast-paced operation in Milton Keynes.
This is a hands-on supervisory role where you will be responsible for the overall running of the site during your shift. You’ll be managing the team, keeping the operation running smoothly and making sure standards around health & safety, quality, stock and productivity are maintained.
We’re open to people from different backgrounds, including manufacturing, production, warehousing, logistics and distribution. The main thing we’re looking for is someone who has experience managing people and taking responsibility for a busy shift.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day running of the operation during your shift Manage and support a team of permanent and agency staff Organise labour and make sure the shift is properly staffed Make sure daily productivity and quality targets are achieved Oversee stock movement, goods in, goods out and general stock control Complete shift reports and keep performance information up to date Carry out team briefs and support staff training and development Deal with return-to-works, holidays, timesheets, investigations and disciplinary matters when required Make sure Health & Safety procedures are followed across the site Carry out safety checks and report any accidents or near misses Look at any operational issues and put actions in place to resolve them Maintain good housekeeping standards across the site Work closely with other departments, customers, suppliers and contractors Support the Site Manager with the overall performance of the operation Be confident making decisions and taking ownership of the shift
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience as a Shift Supervisor, Shift Manager, Operations Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Warehouse Supervisor or similar Experience managing teams within a busy operational environment Background within manufacturing, production, warehousing, logistics or distribution Good understanding of Health & Safety Experience managing staff performance and general people-related matters Comfortable working towards KPIs and operational targets Good organisational and problem-solving skills Able to work independently and make decisions when needed Good communication skills and a confident approach to managing people Comfortable using basic IT systems for reporting, emails and general administration Qualifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH, HACCP or Operations/Production Management would be beneficial but aren’t essential.
