Working Hours: 40 hours per week (including nights), Monday to Sunday, on a rotating shift basis

Salary: £48,523 per annum (inclusive of shift allowance) + annual bonus scheme + benefits

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Shift Technician to join our operations team at a leading Energy Recovery Facility (ERF). This role is central to the safe and efficient operation of the facility, helping to divert waste from landfill and convert it into valuable energy – supporting the UK’s climate goals and resource recovery initiatives.

You will be working in a 24/7 operational environment as part of a skilled team responsible for monitoring, controlling, and maintaining plant equipment both remotely (from a central control room) and physically in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate plant systems safely and efficiently from the control room (via DCS) and on-site.
• Optimise plant and equipment performance through process adjustments and improvements.
• Perform process and equipment fault diagnosis and corrective actions.
• Carry out system isolations and ensure compliance with all safe systems of work.
• Monitor boiler chemistry and maintain optimal ERF operational conditions.
• Maintain accurate shift logs and ensure thorough handovers between shifts.
• Conduct routine and continuous plant monitoring to minimise environmental impact.
• Support your own ongoing professional development and contribute to the success of the wider team.

Skills and Experience Required

• Understanding of safe systems of work (e.g. plant isolations).
• Strong problem-solving skills with a logical and analytical mindset.
• Previous experience in mechanical, electrical, or process plant operations.
• Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH or NEBOSH) is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively within a team in a high-performance environment.
• Willingness and ability to progress to an Authorised Person level is desirable.
