Job Description - Site Agent

Site Agent x2 – Structures / Highways & Civils

Location: Bedfordshire

We are working with a leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure contractor who is looking to appoint two experienced Site Agents to support the delivery of a major infrastructure scheme in Bedfordshire.

There are two opportunities available, with each position responsible for a different area of the project:

* Structures: Overseeing the construction and delivery of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other associated structural elements.

* Highways & Civils: Managing earthworks, drainage, utilities, pavement construction, roadworks and wider civil engineering packages.

Both positions will involve taking ownership of an allocated section of the project, managing site teams and subcontractors, and ensuring all works are delivered safely, to programme, within budget and in accordance with the required quality and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Promote a positive health and safety culture, ensuring safe working practices are consistently maintained across all site activities.

* Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and delivery of allocated work packages, including the supervision of site personnel, engineers and subcontractors.

* Oversee the delivery of either structural packages, including bridges, culverts and retaining walls, or highways and civil engineering works covering earthworks, drainage, utilities, pavement construction and roadworks.

* Plan, coordinate and monitor construction activities, ensuring progress remains aligned with the agreed programme and reporting any issues or delays to the Project Manager.

* Work closely with engineering, design and commercial teams to manage changes to project scope and resolve operational challenges.

* Identify opportunities to improve construction methods, introduce efficiencies and develop practical value engineering solutions.

* Coordinate temporary works requirements, ensuring appropriate designs, approvals and controls are in place before construction activities commence.

* Ensure all relevant RAMS, permit-to-work procedures, site inductions and toolbox talks are completed and communicated effectively.

* Maintain strong working relationships with the client, subcontractors and wider project team, providing regular updates on progress and any areas requiring attention.

* Monitor quality standards through site inspections, quality checks and ongoing reviews, ensuring works comply with specifications and project requirements.

* Maintain compliance with health and safety legislation, environmental requirements and company procedures, while ensuring the site team has the necessary skills and competencies.

About You

* Previous experience working as a Site Agent within a main contractor environment, delivering civil engineering, highways or infrastructure projects.

* A proven ability to manage multiple work packages or take responsibility for larger sections of a project.

* Experience in either highways structures, including bridges, culverts and retaining walls, or general highways and civil engineering works covering earthworks, drainage, utilities and road construction.

* Confident interpreting construction drawings, technical specifications, schedules and other project documentation.

* A good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015, NEC contracts and associated construction processes.

* Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate site teams, subcontractors and resources effectively.

* SMSTS qualification.

* HNC in Civil Engineering or a relevant construction-related discipline (or higher).

* Relevant CSCS card.
